Stepping Razor - Red X, The Peter Tosh Story

RED X

The life of Peter Tosh as told from his own personal diaries, the Red X tapes (discovered in 1990 and so called because he saw his name on an official document with a red X next to it). This gritty, raw documentary is crammed full of live footage, interviews and narration by the man himself. It explores the life and death of a truly amazing man, from his humble beginnings in the ghettos of Kingston to his rise as an international reggae artist. It also examines the mysteries and unanswered questions surrounding his death.

The film reveals many of Tosh’s inner thoughts and ideas, speaking with his mother, father and many of his close friends, it forms a picture of a troubled, yet powerful individual.

Admittedly, the film would have benefited from some improved directing and editing, but this is real and without doubt an un-fabricated account of a great mans life and, sadly, death.
