Dubateers – New releases (Moses, Policeman, We Rule)

Hailing from Southend-On-Sea, UK and inspired by the 90's era of Sound System giants such as Jah Shaka, Iration Steppas and Jah Tubbys, The Dubateers have been taking the UK Sound System scene by storm. Working out of Dougie Wardrops Conscious Sounds Studios in East London, they have released seventeen 10” cuts over the past three years and built up a devoted following - packing out their Dub Bunker nights in Southend-On-Sea at The Royal Hotel every first Friday of the month. Appearing at many of their sessions are artists such as Culture Freeman, Ghetto Priest, Ranking Joe and the highly talented newcomer Charlie P.

This month sees the release of several new tunes, with a cut from Colour Red and Charlie P, plus two digital instrumental tracks ‘We Rule’ and ‘Creeping Dub’.

First up we have the collaboration with Roots legend Clive Hilton AKA Colour Red. The track is entitled ‘Moses’ and the 10” features an awesome dub cut. The tune is unmistakably Colour Red, with his unique vocal style complementing the edgy, sound system vibe of the Dubateers impeccably. As mentioned the dub is awesome and will make any dance ram!

We Rule’ is a heavyweight sound system killa - pounding drum, throbbing bass accompanied by the repeated chant of ‘We Rule Inna Dancehall’ - this is a serious floor shaker! You’ll also find a version of this storming riddim on the flip side. ‘Creeping Dub’ has an eerie feel to it and will certainly appeal to the digi-dub fans. Included is the version, which rolls along with a dark and smouldering intensity.

Next up I spun ‘Policeman’ featuring the remarkable talent of local boy Charlie P. At the tender age of fifteen Charlie is surely destined for an impressive career. The tune is an up-tempo, digital riddim, which will have you bouncing from the first beat. The versatility of Charlie P’s style is exceptional; the boy can hold a note and ride a riddim effortlessly! This tune will be massive – check it now! You’ll expect nothing less than a top quality dub cut to accompany such an exciting tune and you won’t be disappointed. The riddim track is tuff and built for some serious fast-paced lyrical fire!!
