Don Carlos - Them Never Know Natty Dread Have Him Credential

I am playing a new version of 'Them Never Know Natty Dread Have Him Credential' and there are one or two tracks on there that I don’t remember from the first vinyl version. He’s singing with Gold who has partnered him on almost all of his music.

1. Them Never Know

2. Ginalship

3. Come In Girl

4. Ride on Christine

5. Jamaican Woman

6. Dice Cup

7. Rain All Night

8. Hog and Goat

9. Oh Girl

10. Untrue Girl

11. Black Out in the Ghetto

12. Fist Fight

13. Roots Rock Party

14. Travelling So long

15. Not Giving up

As soon as track 1 starts, you know you’re onto a winner. From out of the ether comes the sweet clear voice of this wonderful man, offering the listener an open door into the subtle use of vocal harmony and acoustic piano. His voice rises clear above the clouds on this one.

Don Carlos, who formed Black Uhuru in 1974 with two friends, one of whom was Duckie Simpson, only produced one hit single with Black Uhuru, leaving them to become a solo artist, and boy was that a good move !

'Ginalship', 'Ride on Christine', just what we expect from this genius of music, and had he known me at the time of writing 'Jamaican Woman', I feel sure he would have named the song Welsh Woman,…Welsh Woman I like your style, wont you play with I for a while – Definitely, my man, no problem !

Swing along to 'Rain' all night and 'Hog and Goat' and then sit back, close your eyes and listen to his 'Oh Girl', 'Untrue Girl'.

Up on your feet again, for the rootsy, deep throated 'Black out in the Ghetto', 'Fight Fight' and 'Roots Rock Party'. 'Travelling so long', another one I didn’t have on the vinyl eons ago, but well worth a mention and, finally, 'Not Giving up'. Quite right, reggaemeister, don’t give up.

Something for everyone on this compilation, so, if you don’t have this cd, you don’t know what you are missing. All the tracks are written by the man and produced by Niney Holmes, mixed by Scientist.
