Jerome Laperrousaz’s documentary film Made In Jamaica is the story of how a small island nation of only 3 million people took their pain and misery and turned those emotions into songs that resonate around the world. Artists young throw light upon the island’s unique culture with scintillating performances from participating artists.

One of my favourite parts of the film is a session and interview with Third World, outstanding performances in the back garden of a large plantation house owned by one of them with a statement from him saying that not so long ago he would have been living in a shed at the bottom of the garden and only went into the house when ‘summoned’ and as he said, there is some progress that has taken place for people like him to now be owning such a property.
